First in the series of posts about the most common website mistakes. Whilst they may be times when you need to cover a lot of imformation such as in a tutorial or set of instructions, no one wants to trawl through hundreds of lines of text without a break. It kills interaction, is boring and painful to read. Some of the things you can do to make it easier on the eye include:
- Shorter paragraphs
- Use of headings and sub-headings (These are also important for search engine optimisation)
- Bulleted or numbered lists
- Use relevant images to support your content
- Use a clear writing style
- Consider the reader before composing your content
Overall if you have a lot of content it might be better to break it up into separate pages
